Java Fix for Mac Users

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

If you're a Mac user and are having issues loading SimplicityPS, checkout the steps below. These steps will remove old versions of Java you may have and help you get the latest version installed.

Open the Terminal app on your Mac. (Finder > Utilities > Terminal)

Enter each line below, making sure to hit enter after each. It will ask you for your Mac password on the first one.

          sudo rm -fr /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin

          sudo rm -fr /Library/PreferencePanes/JavaControlPanel.prefPane

          sudo rm -fr ~/Library/Application\ Support/Oracle/Java

Check to see if there are still any other versions of Java installed with the following command.

          ls /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/

Removed the corresponding version, by replacing the version number with the version you have.

          sudo rm -fr /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-9.0.1.jdk

Restart your Mac.

Go to https://www.java.com/download to download the latest version of Java for your Mac.

IMPORTANT!

If you're running MacOS 10.14 or older, get this version of Java in addition to the one above.

Run the Java .dmg file you just downloaded. It will ask you for your Mac password.

Wait for the install to finish.

Fire up the client and let it load.

Nice guide, @ 5AHLNLs.pngRob Macabre !

Helpful for Mac users :) Similar steps can be followed on Linux; I may make a guide for that!
